Achieve accessibility compliance and increase market reach

Digital accessibility is all about creating inclusive experiences that work brilliantly for everyone regardless of the physical or mental challenges they may face. Our comprehensive accessibility auditing services ensure you know exactly where the gaps are in meeting the latest WCAG 2.2 standards and European Accessibility Act (EAA) requirements, giving you confidence in your online presence.

Why professional accessibility testing matters

The limitations of automated tools

Many organisations rely solely on automated accessibility testing tools to test compliance, but this approach can result in significant gaps. It’s estimated that automated tools only identify 20-30% of accessibility issues, according to the UK Government Digital Service (GDS). The remaining potential problems require expert human evaluation to detect and resolve effectively.

Whilst automated tools can do a competent job at finding basic technical issues like missing alt text or colour contrast issues, they miss a great number of important issues, or need expert interpretation to understand. They can’t assess whether your content makes sense to users with disabilities, and can miss crucial elements such as logical navigation flow, meaningful content structure, and many other technical and user experience challenges that can affect your customer’s ability to use your website.

Our mixed-method approach

To ensure we deliver reliable, consistent accessibility auditing, we’ve developed a comprehensive bespoke accessibility assessment process. We combine a number of automated tools with deep expert manual testing to provide comprehensive assessment. Manual evaluation identifies issues that automated systems miss entirely, and ensures we catch the subtle issues that could prevent users who live with disabilities from engaging with your business.

WCAG 2.2 & EAA accessibility auditing and compliance

Tested to latest industry standards

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines v2.2 (WCAG 2.2), released in October 2023, introduced nine new success criteria, specifically addressing accessibility for users with cognitive disabilities, low vision, and physical impairments.

It defines different levels of compliance from ‘A’ (lowest level) to ‘AAA’ (highest level); ‘AA’ level is widely accepted as the industry standard compliance level, and is the required standard for all online UK public sector services. Our audits ensure your website meets these enhanced requirements, future-proofing your digital presence against evolving accessibility standards.

EAA auditing and assurance

The European Accessibility Act came into force at the end of June 2025, and affects all businesses that operate in the EU, regardless of their operating location. It defines a number of legally binding accessibility standards for digital products and services, including websites and e-commerce platforms.

All businesses that have both 10 or more employees, and an annual turnover or balance sheet exceeding €2 million must comply. Whilst there are some exceptions for smaller organisations, some obligations may still apply, and certain member states like Italy, have set even lower thresholds. Fines and penalties vary between EU member countries, but can be substantial.

The EAA complements WCAG standards with further criteria as defined in EN 301 549. Our detailed audit processes incorporate the additional criteria to provide comprehensive identification of exceptions. While our focus is on digital accessibility and website compliance, organisations should be aware that the EAA also covers other areas that may affect your operations, such as hardware or software accessibility which may require further action outside the remit of your website.

The accessibility advantage for your business

Expanded market reach

According to the World Health Organisation, 16% of the global population live with significant disabilities. Looking closer to home, 17.7% of the population of England and Wales have reduced ability to carry out day-to-day activities. Accessible websites don’t just serve users with disabilities, they create better experiences for everyone, including users on mobile devices, in challenging environments, or those with temporary impairments.

Enhancing accessibility delivers a better experience for all

Accessible principles improve usability across the board, and represent a significant opportunity for many businesses. Clear navigation, consistent layouts, and well-structured content benefit every visitor to your website. However, beyond the obvious commercial benefits, meeting accessibility standards represents a clear commitment to digital inclusion. By creating barrier-free digital experiences, you serve all potential customers and demonstrate strong corporate responsibility, whilst meeting legal obligations.
