We came, we ran, we conquered!
First of all, if you’ve stumbled on this post and haven’t got the foggiest idea of what I’m talking about, four of us signed ourselves up to do the Birmingham Half Marathon in aid of our nominated charity Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice.
This is our post race report, and first let me say that you can’t even imagine the scale of the event until you see the start line. A massive 13,000 people took part in the run, and it is only when you reached the start point outside Aston University/Birmingham Metropolitan College where we could see what a turnout it was. Check out the crowd below!
Thankfully, we all managed to get round the 13.1 mile course, but I guess bragging rights should be discussed, so here are the results in our team:
1st Place
Stuart – A stonking run of 1 hr 56 mins 2 seconds! Winner winner chicken dinner!
2nd Place
Liam – A respectable 2 hr 10 mins 44 seconds (considering by his own admission that he did not train at all!)
3rd Place
Ricco – Errr it’s the taking part that counts…2 hr 43 mins 3 seconds…
Honourary Mention
Kristen – An unfortunate knee injury ruled him out of the run, but he was there in spirit so that’s what matters
Of course, it’s not just our running times that count, but what we were actually running for.
As mentioned, we ran for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, who help patients and families from Birmingham and Sandwell who are living with a terminal illness. So far, we’ve raised a total of £471, and it would be much appreciated if you could keep on donating to get us to the £600 target we set ourselves.
Make our pain worthwhile and keep those donations coming in! www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jaskcreative-gbr2016
